Best Sites To Rent Designer Sunglasses

Want to get access to the latest and greatest designer sunglasses without paying the astronomical price tag?  We got you covered.

I love sunglasses and think they are absolutely critical to complete your look.  But when money’s tight, shelling out hundreds of dollars for a pair (even if they completely rock) is a hard pill to swallow.

Luckily there are some great sites that offer high-end sunglasses for rent at an affordable price.

Note: Ditto and Eyedesired were operating in the sunglass rental market, but no longer.  Ditto seems to have shifted their business model to offering virtual “try-on” software for glasses to businesses.  Eyedesired looks to be out of business altogether (at least I could not access their website).

In this article, we will cover each of the active sites offering sunglass rentals in detail (including pricing when available) so you can compare them and choose which site is right for you.

Let’s get into this!

Endless Eyewear

Endless Eyewear is a subscription-based service that specializes in renting out designer sunglasses.  For a monthly fee of $24.99, you can pick any of the sunglasses in their inventory.

When I reviewed their selection, it was extensive and they carried high-end brands.  You can keep your sunglasses for as long as you’d like and can swap them for a different pair at any time.  Members can also receive 15% off all sunglass purchases.

I like the simplicity and focus of their business model and their very strong selection.  This is my top pick.  Definitely worth checking out.

Rent the Runway

Rent the Runway is a subscription site offering access to designer handbags, jewelry, scarves, hats, accessories and sunglasses for a monthly fee.  They offer three different plans.

All orders arrive in 2 days or less and shipping and returns are free.  You can pause or cancel your plan at any time.

You can get sunglasses as part of your plan shipment.  When I checked, the selection of sunglasses included within the plan was somewhat limited.

But if you want a broader selection, you can get sunglasses that are available as one-time rentals (for 4 or 8 days).  If you go that route, you will need to pay the additional rental fee.

Villageluxe

Villageluxe is a general luxury goods rental site, but in their accessories section, they have high-end sunglasses from designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Celine, Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Dior.

You have to dig around a bit to find them among all of the other accessories, but they are there.

Pricing is “per week” and spans a broad range.  When I checked, I saw sunglasses for as little as $8/week to around $70/week or higher.  I am sure the pricing will fluctuate.

You can rent sunglasses for one or two weeks.  If you rent for two weeks, you get a 40% discount on the second week.

Villlageluxe is membership-based, so you need to join before you can start renting.  They do have some screening measures in place.   They are unique because their platform is based on a community of lenders and borrowers.

So if you are interested in an item, you contact the lender and submit a request to borrow the item at the listed price.  If accepted, then you are off to the races.

Honorable Mention: Shades Club

Although not technically a rental service, Shadesclub allows you to get different sunglasses each month for a low monthly fee.

They are a subscription-based box service that focuses exclusively on sunglasses.  One downside is that you don’t get to choose what you receive.

If you choose their month to month option, you will get 1 pair of sunglasses from their collection each month.  The fee is $29 per month.  You get to keep the sunglasses.  Shipping is free and you can cancel at any time.

If you want to save money and get some other benefits, you can sign up for longer-term options.  They offer 4 month, 6 month and 12 month options, which offer lower monthly rates as you extend your term.  If you want to learn more about their plans, here is their subscription plans page.

Conclusion

Each of the sites offers you a different way to rent sunglasses.  If you want a low monthly price and a broad selection to choose from, I would go with Endless Eyewear.

If you want other luxury items to go along with your sunglasses each month, Rent the Runway may be a better choice.

Or if you would like to rent the occasional pair of designer sunglasses without having to pay a monthly fee, you should consider Villageluxe.

Whatever your preference, there is a site that is right for you.
